Studio Eva de Laat’s latest report, STUDIO WORK // VOL 1, examines how the use of temporary and unconventional materials in contemporary art is guiding new developments in seamless and circular knitting. By positioning seamless knitting not just as a production method but as a broader design perspective, the studio highlights new ways to think about value, durability and future fashion systems.

The flowing, layered textures visible in the work of Rochefort and Putrih open new creative directions for seamless and circular knitting. In this approach, knitted surfaces become more sculptural and dynamic, creating depth and rhythm without cutting or generating excess waste. Knit structures move beyond flat uniformity toward expressive forms that combine material efficiency with rich tactile character.

In another direction, the ecological patchwork language associated with Beutler, together with the experimental construction methods of fashion designer Kiko Kostadinov, encourages a fresh approach to colour, stitch and pattern in knitwear.
