Peak Performance has expanded its Freelight Family for the Spring/Summer 2026 season with the launch of the Freelight Polartec Alpha Hood, a lightweight insulated jacket designed for a variety of outdoor activities. The new addition to its collection has been developed to provide reliable temperature control across different weather conditions and activity levels.
Made using Polartec Alpha knit fabric, the hooded jacket weighs only 200 grams. It is designed to efficiently manage moisture, dry quickly, and offer excellent breathability. The fabric features lofted fibers and a mesh core construction that help trap warm air when needed while allowing excess heat to escape during more demanding activities.
According to Peak Performance, the jacket is well suited for outdoor pursuits that involve alternating periods of movement and rest, such as trail running and downhill skiing. It provides warmth during low-activity moments while helping prevent overheating during intense physical effort.
The Freelight Polartec Alpha Hood has been designed to perform effectively as a single outer layer, reducing the need for frequent clothing adjustments as temperatures and activity levels change. The hydrophobic properties of the Polartec Alpha fabric help repel moisture and maintain insulation performance, even in wet conditions.
The jacket includes several functional design elements aimed at improving comfort and mobility. These include raglan sleeves for greater freedom of movement, flatlock-covered seams to reduce irritation, a high collar to help protect against cold winds, and a close-fitting hood that offers coverage without adding unnecessary bulk.
