YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2014-05-03 09:00:00 – Lahore

The Pakistan textile ministry to attract investments into the industry is working on a special package to convert basic textile into value addition. Also every effort are being put in to declare the upcoming fiscal year 2014-15 as the year of textile industry in Pakistan as they stand firm on increasing textile exports by twofold to $ 26 billion by 2018.

Federal Minister for Textile Industry Abbas Khan Afridi after a meeting on standardisation of cotton held by All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) on Friday said that the provisions of Cotton Standardisation Act will be implemented strictly to overcome issues of trash and contamination, etc.

The Aptma have been given assurance that all the hurdles which is obstructing the growth of the textile industry will be tackled on priority basis. The use of CNG should be limited to public transport only and rest of the quantity should be diverted to the textile industry so that the wheels of textile industry continue to run uninterrupted.

Also, there is an urgent need to tap for an alternative energy security to beat the high energy cost issue faced by the textile region and industry.
