Dale of Norway revives iconic Albertville sweater

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-08-31 14:52:25 – Norway

Norwegian knitwear brand Dale of Norway has reintroduced its iconic Albertville sweater, originally designed for the Norwegian Olympic Team for the 1992 Winter Games in Albertville, France. The reissue comes amid growing interest in longevity, heritage and seasonless design, highlighting how well-made garments can remain relevant decades after their original release.

Known for its bold Nordic pattern and chunky wool construction, the sweater has become an important piece of Norwegian knitwear heritage. Original versions have gained collector status over the years, appearing in vintage stores, private collections and resale markets across Europe and the United States.

Dale of Norway has kept the new version closely aligned with the original. The reissue retains its chunky knitted construction, classic crew neckline and distinctive Norwegian pattern, while being produced in Norway from 100% wool. It is available in three colourways, with versions for both men and women.

The sweater also reflects Dale of Norway’s broader approach to Scandinavian luxury, centred on craftsmanship, durability and timeless design rather than seasonal consumption. Its continued appeal demonstrates how distinctive knitwear can retain cultural and commercial value long after its initial release.
