Kappahl collaborates with TrusTrace to support its traceability efforts

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2022-12-08 10:24:19 – Sweden

Swedish clothing company, Kappahl has partnered with TrusTrace, the fashion and retail supply chain traceability platform to support its traceability efforts.

According to a statement from Kappahl, the TrusTrace platform will "strengthen" the company's sustainability and traceability initiatives and give it access to the infrastructure needed to comply with present and future supply chain regulations like the EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles and the Norwegian Transparency Act.

By conveying the effects of their products to consumers, Kappahl hopes to empower them to make more data-based decisions that will drive sustainability in day-to-day operations.

Sandra Roos, vice president of sustainability at Kappahl, said that for Kappahl, it is crucial to be a transparent company, and they want to make it simple for our customers to make informed and sustainable decisions. For their clients to rapidly understand what they have purchased and to increase the value of the clothing, they must provide them with as much information as possible.

Roos added that each finished garment requires a lot of work; the production process is lengthy and includes numerous workers, something that perhaps not everyone is aware of. With TrusTrace, they have the resources to effectively handle sustainability information for the 40 million or so clothes that are sold annually. In order to give buyers a clear and concise understanding of the principles embodied by the clothing, sustainability data can be presented.

Shameek Ghosh, chief executive and co-founder of TrusTrace, added that Kappahl identified traceability as a critical strategic enabler for sustainable change, and a strategy to help comply with growing supply chain laws and regulations.

Ghosh added that they're thrilled that they chose TrusTrace as the model for fostering data-driven, sustainable action. To enable ethical sourcing and comply with regulations like the forthcoming EU Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles and the Norwegian Transparency Act, Kappahl will be able to harness strong supply chain data insights.
