Jeanologia introduced Billy AI, a new artificial intelligence platform that can create accurate laser designs directly from a photograph of a garment. The system has been trained using a large database of over 5,000 laser designs from the company’s archive, along with additional data generated through its design software, eDesigner.

The technology has been specially developed for the denim sector. By studying a single image, Billy AI can identify wear patterns on a garment and convert them into a laser-ready design within minutes. It reads details such as contrast, shadows, textures, and slight colour variations to detect natural wear effects like whiskers, fading, and abrasion.

To use the system, only a good-quality photograph taken with a regular smartphone is needed. The garment should be laid flat, fully visible, and captured from a straight angle for best results.

According to Carmen Silla, global marketing director at Jeanologia, the process uses two AI systems working together. One system creates the laser design from the image, while the second checks if the result is accurate and realistic. This comparison helps improve the final output until it becomes a precise, ready-to-use design.
