JBF Petrochemicals commissions PTA plant at Mangalore SEZ

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2017-04-01 16:30:00 – Mangalore

JBF Petrochemicals step subsidiary of JBF Industries has commissioned its Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) plant at Mangalore SEZ, Karnataka. This is the world’s largest single reactor train PTA plant.

The plant, with capacity of 1.25 million tonnes per annum, uses British Petroleum (BP) BP technology, known to be the most cost effective and highly environment friendly.

Production of PTA is a backward integration for JBF Industries and its subsidiaries abroad, making the company self sufficient in meeting its PTA requirements.

Pursuant to the initial run, the company is planning to take routine checks and remove deficiencies, based on technical guidelines, for sustainable satisfactory technical performance.

This new plant will increase the competitiveness of the company in the Polyester chain and is expected improve margins.

JBF India's operation is expected to save ~ $15-$20 per ton on logistical costs of PTA imports.
