Hugo Boss and Etam are the latest brands to join Canopy initiatives

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2021-09-21 13:48:45 – Germany

Hugo Boss and Etam are among the latest 14 brands and innovators to join the CanopyStyle and Pack4Good programs of the international environmental organization Canopy.

By joining the CanopyStyle and Pack4Good initiatives, the company, which also includes Scotch & Soda and Spinnova, has vowed to stop procuring paper, packaging, and viscose textiles from the world's ancient and endangered forests and to scale up the usage of Next Generation alternatives.

The initiatives are aimed at changing the fashion and packaging supply chains away from sourcing from the world's most significant forests and toward scaling climate-friendly Next Generation Solutions.

Canopy's founder and executive director, Nicole Rycroft, said that turning around the current climate realities and biodiversity reduction is a tremendous challenge — and safeguarding the world's forests is the fastest, most effective, and cost-efficient approach to achieve it. They are so encouraged and inspired to work with these major businesses and innovators who are doubling down to establish supply chains for the twenty-first century and ensuring that the world's forests stay vibrant.

Andreas Streubig, senior vice president of global corporate responsibility and public affairs at Hugo Boss, said that at Hugo Boss, they’re committed to sustainability, and they realize that forests play a critical role in stabilizing our climate and keeping our world livable. In the viscose and packaging supply chains, Canopy has made significant progress in resolving critical sourcing issues. Hugo Boss is thrilled to lend its voice and influence to CanopyStyle and Pack4Good's collaborative and productive approaches.

From luxury to lingerie, today's announcement includes names from all corners of the apparel industry.

Kachen Hong, CSR director of The Etam Group, said that the Etam Group is dedicated to making decisions that are environmentally friendly. That is why they are delighted to be working with Canopy to secure the long-term viability of their forest-derived products, from the viscose used in our products to the paper and cardboard used in our packaging. They recognise the importance of forests in maintaining the stability of our planet's climate, as well as the millions of animals and people who call them home, and they are eager to do their part to help conserve them.

The rapid commercial-scale manufacturing of game-changing Next-Generation Solutions is a core objective of Canopy's collaboration with brands. Four more Next Generation innovators have joined the new brand partners in response to increased market demand for these circular-economy alternatives. These technology companies are working on ground-breaking production solutions to help reduce the current sourcing demands on critical forests.

BastCore, Chaser, The Hurd Co, The IDEPS GmbH, and Saltwater Luxe join Hugo Boss, Etam, Scotch & Soda, and Spinnova as new members.
