Grasim, TRADC develop next-gen scuba knit fabric with Livaeco fibers

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-07-31 13:40:41 – India

Grasim Pulp, the raw material division of Grasim Industries, part of the Aditya Birla Group, has partnered with the Textile Research and Development Center (TRADC) to introduce a next-generation scuba knit fabric made using Livaeco regenerated cellulosic fibres.

Scuba knit is a premium engineered fabric known for its smooth surface, good shape retention, strong stretch recovery and wrinkle resistance. These qualities have made it one of the fastest-growing knit fabric categories in the global apparel market.

Speaking about the new development, Murugan T, President, Marketing and Business Development at Grasim Industries, said the future of performance textiles depends on combining comfort, functionality and sustainability rather than treating them as separate features.

He added that regenerated cellulosic fibres are creating new opportunities in fast-growing apparel segments by helping develop textiles that offer better performance while being more sustainable for both consumers and the environment.
