Tech giant Google, has started an accelerator program for start-ups and nonprofits with the goal of addressing circularity issues in industries like fashion and reuse.
The Google Accelerator: Climate Change initiative’s success will be built upon by the accelerator program, which supports initiatives to establish a circular economy and construct a waste-free future.
Start-ups and non-profits in Asia-Pacific and North America that concentrate on using technology to solve circularity challenges, such as reuse, refill, recycling, composting, fashion, food, safe and circular materials, and the built environment, are welcome to apply to the Google for Startups Accelerator: Circular Economy.
It offers ten weeks of online programming that combines one-on-one and group learning sessions with technical guidance from Google engineers and outside specialists. In addition, each participant will have a personal “Success Manager” assigned to them for additional, organization-specific support.
Google said that humanity consumes significantly more each year than the world can restore naturally. “We need to restructure our relationship with physical resources and how we make, process, utilize, and recycle them in order to establish a circular economy that can be safer, more sustainable, and more equal for everyone. While this linear economic model has expedited human development, it has also caused environmental degradation, unfairness, and inequities, especially for low-income and resource-constrained communities that are situated close to industrial zones where pollution is more common.
Google added that they need to restructure their connection with physical resources and how they make, process, utilize, and recycle them in order to establish a circular economy that can be safer, more sustainable, and more egalitarian for everyone.
