Dana Thomas condemned fashion industry in "Fashionopolis"

Journalist and Author, Dana Thomas revealed the dark side of the fashion industry at the Fashioninnovation virtual forum held this Thursday. 

Thomas is the author of "Fashionopolis: The Price of Fast Fashion and the Future of Clothes", the New York Times bestseller "Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster" and many more. Thomas started with the idea of referring the whole world to Fashionopolis. She strongly stresses the fact that one out of every 6 people somehow works in the fashion industry, making it the most labor-intensive industry but on the other hand it is also extremely damaging to the planet and humanity.

Thomas dislikes and calls it a curse; the onset of the industrial revolution which marked the moment from handmade to machine-made. Thomas also shows her gratitude towards visionaries and technological advances of biotech company Bolt Threads and Jeanologia system with the energy consumption of 33%, chemical 57% and water 71% for denim that is changing how apparel is made today. 

She affirmed that sustainable practices are better for the bottom line and restated how circular in the future! Further, she stated certain values that any polis should be made of like wisdom, courage, moderation and justice that would grant the polis (city) the "perfect equality".
