Owens Corning x Composite Recycling
Composite Recycling, based in Ecublens, Switzerland, has announced a strategic partnership with Owens Corning’s glass fiber reinforcements division in the U.S. Together, they aim to develop sustainable solutions for managing composite waste and move forward with large-scale circular economy efforts. The collaboration will focus on integrating reclaimed glass fibers from Composite Recycling’s process into Owens Corning’s existing manufacturing lines.
“Our recycling process, which uses thermolysis, helps turn composite waste into valuable secondary raw materials for industrial use,” explained Guillaume Perben, co-founder of Composite Recycling.
Both companies will work together to develop and fine-tune methods for blending recycled materials from Composite Recycling into Owens Corning’s reclaimed glass fiber streams. These materials are used in a variety of industries, including marine, automotive, aerospace, transportation, and construction, ensuring the recycled content meets performance and quality requirements.
The companies will carry out technical trials to evaluate how well recycled materials work in Owens Corning’s production processes. They will also ensure that all methods meet necessary industry standards and legal requirements. A letter of intent has been signed to outline their goals, with a formal agreement expected within the next 12 months to explore further uses of recycled composites in Owens Corning’s wide range of products.
