Archroma, ORTA to introduce circular dye from wool waste

YarnsandFibers News Bureau 2026-04-02 13:57:19 – Swaziland

Archroma, a global company known for specialty chemicals, has partnered with Orta Anadolu, the company behind the ORTA brand, to introduce circular dye chemistry into commercial denim production. This collaboration will be presented at Kingpins Amsterdam 2026, showcasing the first denim collection dyed using Archroma’s FiberColors® dyes.

FiberColors® dyes are made using at least 50% wool waste, particularly fleece that sheep farmers would otherwise discard at a cost. By reusing this waste, Archroma’s patented technology replaces petroleum-based raw materials without affecting performance, water or energy use, or waste generation during production. These dyes offer similar dyeing quality and durability as traditional sulfur dyes and are approved under GOTS standards.

After a successful trial in late 2025, ORTA has chosen three shades from the FiberColors® range for its first collection: DIRESUL® FIBER-TEAK (brown), DIRESUL® FIBER-SLATE (blue-grey), and DIRESUL® FIBER-GRAPHITE (dark grey). This selection reflects ORTA’s focus on combining strong design with responsible production and shows that FiberColors® are ready for use in premium denim.
