German fiber supplier Advansa is introducing new versions of its Suprelle polyester fiberfill using Ciclo technology for pillows, comforters and other bedding products used in homes and hotels.

Ciclo is an additive added to polyester and nylon during the fiber manufacturing process. It is designed to create pathways that help microorganisms break down shed fibers more quickly when they enter environments with long-term moisture, such as soil, wastewater sludge and seawater.

The technology does not stop textiles from releasing microfibers. Instead, its environmental aim is to reduce the time these fibers remain in the environment after they are shed.

Advansa’s wider Suprelle range includes fiberfill designed for cooling, moisture management, down-like softness, resilience and long-lasting loft. The announcement did not confirm when the Ciclo-enabled products will be commercially available. It also did not specify whether they will include recycled polyester or identify the brands and hospitality customers that may use them.
