Chinese industrial park in Ahmedabad to go functional by end of 2017

The first Chinese general Industrial park with focus on textiles will be functional by the end of 2017 near Ahmedabad. The infrastructure for the park will be ready by 2017-end and some of the companies will begin setting up their units by the same time, said the country head of China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (CASME) in India, Kamlesh Bhadani.

Pakistan, the 4th largest exhibitor at the Heimtextil Fair Germany, a mega event for all textile millers and exporters of the world, where this year Pakistan (TDAP) umbrella at the Pakistan pavilion received almost half the number of order this year compared to the previous year.

Pakistani exporters have seen a massive drop in international orders lately, due to the energy crisis and the slowdown of global economy, said an exhibitor at the Heimtextile Fair and Ayesha Textile Mills CEO Abdulla Kamal, while talking to the media.

The industrial hub coming up on the outskirts of Yadgir city on more than 3,232 acres of land which includes a fully fledged textile park on 1,000 acres, the first phase of work is over. The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board has taken up the work.

KIADB Executive Engineer Shrikant Chowka said that 1,804.2 acres of area had been developed and tenders had been floated for the development of the remaining area.

MEG price gains as crude oil price rebounds

Asian MEG markers gained US$18 CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the third week of January.

In China, MEG values inched down in first half on weak crude oil price, and negotiations fell to US$540 a ton. As crude rose MEG prices surged US$20 a ton in the second half of the week.

Mono ethylene glycol prices surged in Asian markets as crude oil rebound and MEGlobal immediately limiting MEG supply to Asian customers for an unspecified period due to a shortage of feedstock at its plants in Kuwait.

In US, spot MEG prices hovered at 78-month low while demand remained on an average.

Paraxylene prices surge in Asia, Europe

Asian paraxylene prices gained US$21.67 a ton FOB Korea and CFR Taiwan/China in the third week of January.

Paraxylene price surged as crude oil prices jumped more than 10 per cent on 22nd January 2016. The spurt in oil prices also sent naphtha CFR Japan up US$19 a ton over the same period. Downstream demand was still not strong, thus paraxylene price rise was cost pushed.

Pakistan, Thailand to conclude FTA by May next year

Pakistan and Thailand to conclude a free trade agreement (FTA) by May next year, which will help Pakistan, enhance its access to ASEAN region and Thailand to enhance its trade with the South Asian states as well as with the Central Asian states. Pakistan is already its second largest trading partner after India in the region.

The two countries plan to use the FTA as a springboard for gaining access in the ASEAN and South and Central Asian regions respectively.

Bangladesh falls back by 45pc to achieve its jute export target

Textiles and Jute Minister Md Emaz Uddin Pramanik on Monday told Parliament in the last fiscal year of 2014-15, Bangladesh falls back by 45 percent to achieve it export target of the jute-products, as some 117,953 tonnes of jute products were exported in the last fiscal year against the target of 215,540 tonnes.

While, in the current fiscal of 2015-16 against the target set to export 213,955 tonnes of jute product, some 7.55 million bales (1bale=180 kg) of jute was produced in the country.

Cotton output likely to decline to five-year low in 2015-16

The trade estimates cotton production at around 33 million bales (170 kg each) for the October 2015-September 2016 crop year against 38 million bales in the previous year. The Cotton Advisory Board anticipating lower output in its first estimate in November, forecast output at 36.5 million bales. The agriculture ministry had in September forecast cotton output at 33.51 million bales.

Bangladesh imported textile machinery worth Tk71.19bn in last fiscal year

Bangladesh textile millers have imported machinery worth TK71.19 billion in the fiscal year of 2014-15, a short up by over 40 percent compared to Tk50.63 billion in the last fiscal year of 2013-14 as many millers went for business expansion, said Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) president Tapan Chowdhury speaking a press conference on Tuesday. The rise in machinery imports is attributed to the prevailing political stability.
