Bekaert and DesleeClama, mattress fabric suppliers to merge

Belgium-based fabric suppliers Bekaert Textiles and DesleeClama announced they have reached an agreement under which Bekaert will acquire DesleeClama to become the world’s leading mattress fabric supplier as both companies have an ambitious growth strategy. The new entity BekaertDeslee Textiles will combine their strengths to create a customer-centered company with a unique global footprint, higher speed of delivery and a comprehensive product portfolio.

Govt extends anti-dumping duty on import of mulberry raw silk

Government has extended the anti-dumping duty on import of Mulberry Raw Silk for from the neighbouring country, China to protect domestic industry from cheap inbound shipments.

To this effect, the Department of Revenue in the Finance Ministry issued a separate notification, imposing an anti-dumping duty of USD 1.85 per kg on Mulberry Raw Silk from China.

Economic incentives for a growing textile company that has added 15 jobs in the past two years and expects to add at least 15 more jobs in another year were approved Monday night by the Columbus County Commissioners.

Shodja Textiles, doing business as Whiteville Textiles, will receive incentives totaling more than $41,000 over the next five years based on an investment of more than $1.5 million in building renovations.

The Company is in business since 2000, makes high-end fabrics used in the automotive industry, Chief Executive Officer Cameron Shodja told commissioners.

The Pakistan food security ministry is seeking to take back control of the cotton department on the grounds that it has much relevance to the agricultural sector. Cotton was and agricultural crop and like other cash crops, its affairs must be handled by the food ministry for smooth coordination with provinces and implementation of policies. But the Ministry of Textile Industry has flatly rejected a proposal for handing over its cotton wing, stating that the department should remain associated with it.

Nylon yarn price dips on lower raw material prices

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices fell US cents 3 a kg in the third week of January while FDY40D were stable on the week.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices rolled over while DTY 30D/10F prices declined US cents 4-7 a kg.

Monofilament 30D prices also fell US cents 8 a kg while 1.5D staple fiber dipped US cents 3-6 a kg on the week.

Nylon filament yarn markets sustained the weakness caused easing low operating pressure due to softening of caprolactum and nylon chip prices. Downstream consumers will shut down units in late January and will be cautious following up.

Caprolactum price declines on weak demand

Asian markers, the SE and FE markers edged down US$50 a ton in the third week of January. In China, liquid good offers rolled over on the week with selling indications down US$20 a ton delivered. Solid goods offer fell US$15 a ton.

Sinopec cut its January contract nomination fell US$45 a ton for liquid goods with settlement at US$1,450 a ton. January contract nomination for high end goods were absent, with buying indications at US$1,100 a ton.

The Karnataka government is looking to attract twice the Rs 1.30 lakh crore investment it has wooed in the last two years at the upcoming global investors meet which will begin on Febuary3, 2016. The state's Co-operation, Textiles and Marketing Department issued a notification on January 29 relaxing the mandatory condition of obtaining UID to avail the schemes implemented by the government.
