Zimbabwe to push capacity utilization of its textile sector

The Zimbabwean government has gazetted some Statutory Instruments to discourage cheap imports of textile products into the country, this is likely to push the capacity utilization of local textile industry to 45 percent this year, an official said.

Zimbabwe Textile Manufacturers’ Association secretary-general, Raymond Huni said that the industry would take off well this year due to measures introduced by government to protect the industry.

Viscose yarn price recovers in China

In China, mainstream prices of 40s compact siro-spun yarn in Jiangsu were up US cents 2 a kg in the last week of January while 30s spun viscose in Xiaoshan inched up US cents 2 a kg.

Spun viscose yarn market was insipid in China as spinners mostly ended their business, while some still raised offers a bit. Selling ideas for spun rayon yarn were reportedly steady amid thin liquidity.

However, VSF prices have started rebounding after a short period of descending. This will have favourable impact on yarn prices post Lunar New Year holidays.

Blended yarn price remains stable across Asia

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices were stable in the last week of January while 45s PC combed yarn prices rolled over on the week.

Blended spun yarn prices remained relatively stable in the last seven days in China, with however a few rates slightly declining.

Spinners were in holiday mood with production being cut in order to reduce inventories before holidays. Inventories were down, especially in case of 24s PC, 31 PC and 38 PC yarns.
