Turkey, Peru to bring trade balance to US$1bn over next 5 years

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's official visit to Lima —last February— contributed to a very positive approach between both countries. Turkey and Peru to bring the trade balance to US$1.00 billion over the next five-year period for which both countries are expected to reach a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by June 2016. Both governments intend to boost new businesses, said Turkish Ambassador to Peru Ferda Akkerman.

With the European Union (EU) opening duty-free market for 9 600 products including textile by October, Swaziland’s textile industry will again retain its vibrancy that was impaired due to the loss of African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) almost two years ago.

Through the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) countries are allowed to export goods to the EU, duty-free under AGOA. The country is in the process of ratifying the agreement with the assistance of the EU.

Union textile ministry to boost textile sector considering interest subvention

The high cost of finance has been a major barrier for growth of the textiles sector, in a bid to counter torpidity in exports due to stiff competition, the Union textile ministry is contemplating interest subvention of 3.5 percent on the working capital loan for garment companies

Rashmi Verma, secretary, Union textiles ministry said that in order to boost the textile sector, they have announced several incentives in the last few months. The major area of concern, however, remains high cost of production because of elevated interest rates on working capital.

Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan informing the National Assembly (NA) said that the refunds issue of exporters would be resolved very soon as the government would release Rs5 million refunds to exporters from the next month.
