The Jababeka Industrial Estate is the first modern Indonesian eco-industrial estate and jointly developed with ProLH GTZ under a technical cooperation program collaboratively established by Indonesia's Ministry of Environment and the Republic of Germany is planning to turn Kendal in Central Java into a “fashion city”.

Jababeka president director SD Darmono said on Wednesday that his company would build a textile complex in the small city to provide space for textile and garment manufacturers to develop their businesses.

Textile traders of the country's largest man-made fabric (MMF) hub Surat , have suffered losses to the tune of over Rs 200 crore over the last five days due to the ongoing Jat agitation in Haryana.

Textile traders and transporters are worried as more than 250 trucks loaded with textile goods which includes dress materials and saris worth crores of rupees bound to Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab have been stuck on the highway near Rajasthan following the Jat quota stir in Haryana, according to Industry sources.

Dye industries operating in Faridabad has demanded that the government should provide them a dedicated textile park with a common treatment plant (CTP) having sufficient water supply in response to the notice received from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) as illegal.

The directions of NGT came while hearing a petition filed by two Faridabad residents who alleged that over 150 jeans dyeing industries in the district were running without the consent of the Haryana Pollution Control Board (HPCB).

In China, medium-length staple fiber prices rolled over in the second week of February at US$1.79-2.01 a kg while cotton-type staple was at US$1.80-2.01 a kg.

Jilin Chemical Fiber maintained its February list prices for 1.5D and 3D medium-length at US$2.00-2.01 a kg, while tow was at US$2.09 a kg and top at US$2.24 a kg.

Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow prices rolled over at US$1.60-1.70 a kg while offers for regular products were partially at US$1.56-1.60 a kg.

Asian acrylonitrile marker, the CFR Far East Asia was flat in the second week of February at US$979-981 a ton while Southeast Asia was at US$899-901 a ton.

In China, offers for offshore cargoes were at US$1,000-1,050 a ton CFR China. In East China, domestic prices stood at 7,800-7,900 Yuan a ton.

Acrylonitrile prices in Asian markets remained flat in thin activity during the holiday week. In China, spot market was lusterless amid tight supply.

Vietnamese textile company, Garmex Saigon projects 20 percent growth rate in revenue in comparision with 2015 as they have so far ensured enough jobs for the company until the end of the year, unlike previous years, said Le Quang Hung, president of Garmex Saigon. Garmex Saigon reported turnover of VND1.530 trillion in 2015, while abundant orders have led to turnover that may reach VND1.8 trillion this year.

Trading activity remained lean as buyers were reluctant to make any sizeable deal though price was low at the lint market on grade issue, floor brokers said. Some spinners finalized deals of fine type to meet immediate need and around 200 bales changed hands.

The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) spot rate remained firm at Rs 5,300 per maund. The volumes were slow with traders purchased just 200 cotton bales in the ready market of Sindh and Punjab at Rs 4,950 per maund to Rs 5,450 per maund.

A 10-member taskforce has been formed which will be lead by Additional Secretary to the Textile and Jute Ministry to bring the privatized jute and textile factories, which violated the conditions, under the government management again, said a handout on Monday.

The taskforce will review the violation of the conditions by the mills and put forward recommendations to run the mills under the government management after field visits if it is necessary.

Pakistan cotton production which is on the downward trend from 33.62 percent to 9.687 million bales during this season to February 15 owing to pest attacks and rainfall damaging the crop. The government aimed at 15.49 million cotton bales in the beginning of the current season. But for the next season, Pakistan government has set the cotton production target at 14.101 million bales, on Tuesday.

The federal committee on cotton (FCC) fixed the cotton production target from 3.009 million hectares across the country for the fiscal year of 2016/17.
