KPR Mill plans expansion of its processing capacity investing Rs 120cr

Coimbatore-headquartered KPR Mill Limited is one of the largest vertically integrated Apparel manufacturing companies in India producing Yarn, Knitted Grey & Dyed to scale up garment capacity plans expansion of its processing capacity with advanced cold processing technology, to meet additional requirement.

The project is expected to be completed in nine months for which project cost is estimated to the tune of Rs 120 crore and the firm plans to fund its expense through internal accruals and debt.

Blended yarn prices up in India, China

In India, 30s (65/35) PV warp yarn prices in the second week of March inched up INR1 a kg (up US cents 4, also due to strong INR) in Indore market. In Ludhiana, PC 30s (52/48) prices rose further INR3 a kg (up US cents 6).

With stronger INR, Indian yarn have become dearer in US$ terms and may not be able to compete in the international markets. On export markets, PC yarns have risen INR2 at US$2.45 a kg FOB. The rise in polyester prices also resulted in PV yarn prices going up.

Viscose yarn price jumps on rising raw material cost

In China, prices of 40s compact siro-spun yarn in Jiangsu were lifted up US cents 4 a kg in the second week of March while 30s spun viscose in Xiaoshan were up US cents 3 a kg. Offers for ring-spun 30s yarn were at US$2.77-2.85 a kg.

In China, spun viscose yarn prices kept rising in tandem with higher VSF prices. Offers for ring-spun 30s were mostly hiked by US cents 3 a kg. Offers for Fujian-origin siro-spun 40s yarn were up US cents 4 a kg on the week.

Three major trade bodies Indian Cotton Association Limited (ICAL), Northern India Textiles Mills Association (NITMA), and Mumbai-based Indian Society for Cotton Improvement (ISCI have decided to jointly organize a seminar 'Awareness of whitefly and best practices for growing cotton' at Abohar on March 21.

The seminar to be held to discussion and find way to avoid a repeat of the last year's pest attack on cotton crop in Punjab and Haryana. Cotton was sown over 4.5 lakh hectares in Punjab last year and two-third of it was damaged due to pest attack.

Pakistan cotton market due to short supply of quality lint witnessed overnight gain in cotton price on Saturday. In the ready business, around 13,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 5100 and Rs 5500. The official spot rate maintained rising trend for the second day, gaining further Rs 50 more at Rs 5,300, dealers said.

While, in Sindh, seed cotton prices were at Rs 2000-2200, and Punjab prices at Rs 2500 and Rs 2900.

The Karnataka State to support the sericulture industry affected by the reduction in import duty on raw silk from 15 percent to 10 percent has proposed to set up cocoon banks, silk testing centres, and revival of the price stabilisation fund.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that as suggested by the committee headed by agricultural economist H. Basavaraj, the state has set aside Rs2 crore for the establishment of cocoon banks.

Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA) data shows that cotton production plunged 34.07 percent to 9.748 million bales up till March 15 of the current season from 14.785 million bales a year ago due to untimely heavy rains, substandard pesticides and poor quality seeds.

A shortfall in the cotton crop continued to worsen this season in the cotton growing areas of Punjab and Sindh.
