The Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) 2015 dedicates a day to Indian textiles. Bangladesh government to boost exports has decided to redefine export-oriented traditional and non-traditional products as the contribution of the traditional products to the export basket has plunge to 2.74% in the last fiscal year, while the contribution of non-traditional products raise to 97.26%.

Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) sources said that the recently the Prime Minister Office (PMO) in a letter directed the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) to redefine export-oriented traditional and non-traditional products to accelerate export growth.

A research scholar of MS University's Faculty of Family and Community Sciences has not only traced the journey of the famed traditional Saudagiri print which was popular in Siam for almost a century before it was wiped out in 1958 but also recreated it using modern technology.

Increase in cotton prices was witnessed on Wednesday due to short supply and strong demand from spinners. According to market estimates, the current stocks of cotton in Pakistan are sufficient only to meet textile industry’s demand till end-April.

The delay in sowing of next cotton crop (2015-16) is also creating panic among spinners who will have to wait for another four to five months to get stocks from new crop.

Bangladesh Cotton Association (BCA) with the support and co-operation of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) is organizing a two day global summit and has invited buyers and seller to attend this international trade event to help support its textile and clothing exports.
