Government will take steps to ease off the difficulties for the entrepreneurs who are willing to come and invest in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. An industry friendly atmosphere will be created albeit without compromising on the ecological and environmental aspects.

Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash during his maiden visit to the SIDCO Complex Ghati and Textile Park in Kathua, reiterated the Government’s resolve to promote a healthy environment for Entrepreneurs to set up units and support Industrial growth in the state.

One of America’s largest retailers has chosen Applied DNA Sciences Inc. (APDN), a provider of DNA-based anti-counterfeiting technology, for SigNature T DNA marking of pima cotton fibers. APDN successfully completed the campaign.

More than 10,000 bales of extra long staple cotton were securely marked at the fiber level with APDN’s botanically-derived DNA and shipped to off-shore locations in Asia for conversion to finished goods that will ultimately be sold at retail this year.

Pakistan cotton market witnessed selective buying again on Friday amid tight supply of quality lint. Only needy buyers were seen covering their immediate requirement.

In the ready session, around 7,000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 4400 and Rs 5200. The prices of seed cotton in Sindh were at Rs 1900 and Rs 2350 and in Punjab rates were at Rs 2000 and Rs 2650. While, the official spot rate remained unchanged at Rs 5000

Flipkart, an e-commerce market place is aiming to ramp up the number of categories of items for sale and connect with more vendors from different parts of the country. The company has set a target to have one lakh sellers hawking their products on its portal.

This year, handloom, home and local artifacts will emerge as prominent categories. They are confident that they will see more sellers from these categories to join them and reach out to a wider range of customers nationally, Flipkart Senior Vice president (market place) Ankit Nagori said.

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has urged the government to ensure uninterrupted energy supply ahead of summer to textile industry in Punjab having witnessed a decline of 13 percent month-on-month basis as per the overall exports data for February 2015.

According to Aptma Chairman S M Tanveer, high cost of production is rendering textile industry uncompetitive in the international market place. Moreover, the competitors are being supported by government in terms of incentives, which is taking away Pakistan’ share in international market.

Furniture retailer Ikea India, the Indian subsidiary of Swedish furniture retailer Ikea AB plans to make investment of Rs.600 crore for setting up 2-3 outlets in the state of Maharashtra for which it has inked a pact with the Maharashtra government.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the legislature in a statement that the company will invest Rs 600 crore in Maharashtra to set up 2-3 outlets. Each outlet will create around 1000 jobs.

Central give approval of Rs 20 crore funds under ISDS for Haryana

The Union Ministry of Textiles has given approval of Rs 20 crore funds under Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) for implementation in addition to existing ones for generating more employment for the youth in Haryana. This information was give by Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma during the ongoing budget session of Haryana Assembly.

Sharma stated that under the scheme 75 percent of the training cost would be provided by the Ministry of Textiles and the remaining would be contributed by the State.

Work on garment industrial park will start this summer on a new 492 acre which will provide a home for 300 factories and generate around US $3 billion annually in export revenues, said the Bangladesh garment manufacturers and export association.

The BGMEA claims the park will place an emphasis on sustainability, including connecting factories located at the park with a modern Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for the disposal of industrial liquid and sewerage water.
