The global organic cotton market with three consecutive years of production decline from 2012 to 2014 has witnessed ten percent rise in production largely due to increased market demand as well as more collaborations between farmers and the textile supply chain, according to Textile Exchange’s annual report.

The West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced that in a bid to facilitate business in the state, the government has made an ambitious plan to attract around ₹37,000 crore in the State through 10 textiles clusters or parks.

The proposed projects planned which includes setting up of parks to fetch a total estimated investment of more than ₹37,000 crore to boost the textile sector and these will also provide employment to 6 lakh people.

Wool prices have soared to a new four-year high due to a combination of market demand and low supply.The Easter Market Indicator (EMI) posted by the Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) increased by 70c/kg. Moses and Son principal, Marty Moses of Temora said the high prices were due to a lower currency price combined with falling supplies.

RIVERINA wool producers are benefiting from some of the most lucrative market conditions.

The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association has urged the government to bring the import duty on polyester staple fibre down to zero. According to a press release, association’s acting chairman Wisal Monnoo stated that imports of all kind of specialty fibres including acrylic should be allowed at zero per cent import duty helping the industry to widen its product base.

Currently, 6 per cent customs duty and import incidental together with local PSF manufacturers’ margin make PSF available at around 20 per cent price differential.
