China to start selling cotton from its state reserve stock over the next two months

China, the world's largest grower, consumer, and importer of cotton to start selling down cotton from its massive State stockpiles over the next two months. The aim is to release and then buy in, sell out more and buy in less, in order to use up State reserve stocks, the National development and Reform Commission said.

China has ‘put out feelers’ to join the Asia-Pacific trade deal, as per the US media which is a breaking news but not a surprise at all for Vietnamese experts. China will not only need the nod of the US to join TPP but the community of 12 member countries, and China will have to negotiate with each of the 12 countries to obtain TPP membership. Heavy rains have hit Texas, the largest cotton-growing state in the U.S. Most of the cotton is grown in West Texas, which is recovering from a four-year drought. Many areas haven’t seen more than two days in a row without rain this month, which has made it difficult to plant crops. If crop yields in Texas are lower or if the harvest is delayed and the maturing crop gets too wet from seasonal rains, it could create a temporary shortage of quality fiber.
