Polish govt plan to invest €95m to bring innovation in Lodz’ textile industry

Lodz, once the biggest and fastest growing the centre of Poland's textile industry to revamp and modernize its under invested and troubled textile players, the Polish government as part of the Innotextile programme, plans to invest around PLN 400 mill (€95 million). The programme through its research and development activities will provide the city with a much-needed funds for the development of innovative textiles such as hydrotextiles, geotextiles and agritextiles and their production by local manufacturers.

Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) to create awareness among garment and made-up segments of the textile sector organized a seminar on June 23 in Coimbatore on the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana scheme.

The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana scheme provides financial assistance ranging from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 12,000 each for fresh trainees and Rs. 2,500 for the existing workers to get trained in different skills and to get certified.

The programme was held jointly with the Apparel, Made-ups, and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council.

Bhandari Hosiery Exports (BHE), a leading exporter, manufacturer and supplier of garments from Ludhiana are planning to gradually strengthen their backward integration business, which will ultimately support their core business of textile manufacturing for which they plan to invest Rs 15 crore in installing machineries for yarn dyeing and sewing threads units at its existing facility at Ludhiana.

Paraxylene prices move in tandem with crude oil market

Paraxylene prices firmed up in the week ended 12 June but fluctuated week end on sluggish crude oil markets and weakening aromatics values. Asian markers, the FOB Korea and CFR Taiwan/China, rose US$22 on the week, but fell US$9 on 12 June.

In Europe paraxylene spot gained on firmer crude oil while June European contract price remained unchanged from May leaving spot prices at a 15 per cent discount. During the week, price gained US$22 a ton FOB ARA. June contract price rolled over at Euro880 a ton equating just under US$990 a ton.

After the reduction from 15 percent to 10 percent on Chinese raw silk, announced in the 2015-16 Budget, the Karnataka state having witnessed steep decline in prices in the raw silk and cocoon markets, which would throw the local manufacture of raw silk out of business has urged the Centre to increase customs duty to 30 percent or at least restore it to 15 percent.

Vietnam emerges as fourth largest garment exporter in H1 2015

Vietnam has emerged as the fourth largest textile exporter in the world by earning US$12.18 billion in the first six months of 2015, said the Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex). The earning is 10.3 per cent higher than last year. US, South Korea and the European Union were the biggest buyers of Vietnamese products, posting growth of 11.0 per cent, 8.3 per cent and 8.2 per cent respectively, against the same period last year.
