The export target for 2015-2016 is USD 13.67 billion. The continuing decline in exports of cotton textiles is a matter of deep disappointment and concern requiring urgent action from the government, Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil) chairman RK Dalmia said in a statement.

Google, US search engine to introduce its online advertising engagement with small- and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs) based in China held its first exhibition in Hong Kong on Thursday. Hangzhou-based Keer Group became the first Chinese textile maker to set up a subsidiary in the US 7-months ago hoping to help revive the textile industry in a community in the southeastern US state of South Carolina. Its US branch, the Keer America Corporation, is located in Lancaster County, South Carolina.

Its establishment has created a new series of job opportunities for people in the community, textile manufacturing had been a backbone industry in Lancaster County for decades.

In the first week of September, polyester yarn 30 knitting yarns prices in India were up US cent 1 a kg in Ludhiana market while they fell US cents 2 a kg in Indore market. Prices in India rolled over in Ludhiana market while they moderated in Indore market.

In Pakistan, polyester yarn prices generally rolled over and are expected to sober in coming weeks in line with the PakRs5 a kg fall in PSF prices this week. 30s spun polyester prices were stable during the week.

In Qianqing, 32s polyester yarn was up US cents 4 a kg on the week.

As cotton textile exports have declined 7.39% in August 2015 as compared to the corresponding month last year, Indian textile exporters have urged the government to facilitate free trade agreements (FTAs) with major importing countries including the European Union, Australia and Canada to remove trade barriers.
