WGSN host Chinese fashion and textile industry delegation at NY Fashion Week

At the New York Fashion Week 2015 which began yesterday, a delegation from China’s fashion and textile industry led by China Textile Information Center (CTIC), which serves China’s huge and growing fashion and textile industry of over 20,000 companies was hosted by WGSN, the global foresight business specializing in consumer, fashion and design trends and insights.

The delegation comprised of some of the country's largest garment manufacturers and up-and-coming apparel retailers. More than 20 representatives are part of the China's fashion and textile industry delegation.

Paraxylene price rises in Asia and US after recent drops

Asian paraxylene markers gained US$17 a ton both FOB Korea and CFR Taiwan/China in the first week of September after remained flat in the previous week. Feedstock isomer-grade mixed xylenes rose US$21.50 a ton FOB Korea while orthoxylene prices were assessed up US$10 a ton CFR China and FOB Korea.

Paraxylene prices climbed in Asian markets on the week amid thin market but rising feedstock cost. Isomer-grade mixed xylenes were dearer week on week despite inventory levels rising in East China.

Textile industry reproaches the gas suspension decision

The Pakistan Textile Exporters Association has aggrieved over the authorities’ imprudent decision of gas suspension for industries in winter terming it as a unilateral action.

The association opined that the government should shelve its gas outage plan to bring the country’s economy out of sluggishness, as this suspension would lead innumerable people to lose their jobs and would also affect the industrial growth.

Caprolactum price rallies in Chinese market

In China, offers for liquid goods were up US$10 a ton in the first week of September due to stronger currency on the week and discussions were also up US$30 a ton. Asian markers, the SE and FE fell US$20 a ton. Sinopec’s settlement for August was at US$1,725 a ton for liquid while DSM Nanjing’s settled August at US$1,765 a ton.

Spinners in Tamil Nadu's textile hub Tirupur have faced acute losses recently as their supplies of polyester and cotton yarn failed to find purchasers. They had to effect a 30% production cut to buttress prices. To help them crack the demand-supply challenges they have designed a mobile app. The app provides a platform for mills to update the last-sold price of their yarn, stock position and related market data.

The proposal of Toyota Industries India Private Limited to set up a textile and spinning machinery manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 410 crore at Vasanthanarasapura Industrial Area in Tumakuru district was cleared by the Karnataka State High-Level Clearance Committee on Monday.

The proposed unit, which was cleared by the SHLCC chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, will provide employment to 800 people.

Nylon yarn price declines despite rising raw material prices

In the first week of September, prices of semi-dull FDY70D/24F in China fell US cents a kg 2-6 while FDY40D was down US cents 6-10 a kg. Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices declined US cents 6 a kg while DTY 30D/10F was down US cents 6 a kg. Monofilament 30D was stable and staple fiber 1.5D was up US cents 10 a kg.

Cheap dumping from China troubles Indian textile industry

The leading textile players are seeking protection for the textile industry from cheap Chinese dumping in India. About 60 per cent of dumping in India is claimed to be done from China, and unofficial estimate of this trade size ranges from 20-40 per cent of the USD 105 billion domestic textile industry.
