41 Bangladeshi organizations given permission to export raw jute

The Bangladesh government has taken decision to give permission to 41 organization to export 277,000 bales of raw jute against the 251 letters of credit issued before Nov 3 last year as a special measure, this was informed by Saikat Chandra Halder, PRO of the textile and jute ministry on Wednesday.

The government on Dec 3 last year banned the export of raw jute for an indefinite period to ensure that jute bags were used in the packaging of various goods. Following appeals from jute exporters, permission has been granted to 41 organisations to export raw jute.

Export of spun yarns made of 100pc manmade fibres plunge in November 2015

India’s 100pc man-made fibre yarns export was at 4.7 million kg in November 2015, comprising 2.56 million kg of polyester yarn, 1.42 million kg of viscose yarn and 0.67 million kg of acrylic yarn.

Polyester yarn exports were down 9.7 per cent in value while viscose yarn exports declined 14.6 per cent during the month.

Acrylic yarn exports saw a drastic plunge of 37 per cent in November.

Unit price realization was down US cents 39 a kg for polyester from a year ago and that of viscose yarn was down US cents 18 a kg.

Filament yarns export from India falls

In November 2015, all types of filament yarns export aggregated 28 million kg worth US$46 million. Filament yarns include polyester, nylon, polypropylene and viscose filament yarns and were exported to 73 countries during the month. Around 88 per cent of filament yarns were of polyester, of which, DTYs were the largest at 72 per cent.

About 982,000 million kg of viscose filament yarns were exported in November to 24 countries from India valued at US$4 million. During the month, 230,000 kg of VFYs were exported to Japan. It was followed by Germany and Egypt.

Biggest textile park to come up in Warangal covering all segments

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced on Wednesday that the proposed ‘cotton-to-garment’ park coming up in Telangana’s Warangal town to be set up in an area of 2000-3000 acres will be India's biggest textile park and it will cover all segments. While, the textile parks in different parts of the country like Solapur, Tirupur and Surat were engaged in manufacturing only specific categories of garments.

The Warangal district collector has already released Rs.100 crore for acquiring land for the textile cluster.

Textile mills and traders in north and south India buying cotton from Gujarat forced to import cotton over the increasing adulteration, the usual rate of adulteration of 10-15 percent has climbed to 40 per cent this year. Increase in cotton adulteration is also seen in Maharashtra.

According to Arvind Pan, vice-president of the Saurashtra Ginners’ Association (SGA), ginners are losing Rs 500-700 per bale of raw cotton. Many ginners are mixing lower quality cotton with higher quality cotton to reduce their losses. Yet their returns are not good.
