Second Made-in-Rwanda expo begins

The second Made-in-Rwanda exhibition opens today at Gikondo Expo Grounds in Kicukiro District., organized by the Private Sector Federation in partnership with Minister for Trade, Industry, and East African Community Affairs (MINEACOM). It gives an opportunity to Rwandan manufacturers to showcase what they can do and their production potential to satisfy local market as government seeks to increase exports and bridge the import gap.

MEG price gains across all regions

Asian MEG prices gained US$27 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the last week of November. In China, negotiations edged down during the week.

Mono ethylene glycol prices surged in Asian markets on bullish crude futures and short covering. In China, MEG market walked in weakness opening the week but midweek’s surge in crude oil values saw favorable influence on MEG futures and spot climbed up continuously.

Paraxylene price moves up amid surging crude oil values

Asian paraxylene prices surged US$17.33 a ton CFR Taiwan/China and FOB Korea in the last week of November. Isomer mixed xylene jumped US$28.50 a ton FOB Korea on the week.

Paraxylene prices in Asia soared on the week post midweek surge in crude oil values. Meanwhile, the paraxylene-naphtha spread touched 1-month low. ExxonMobil nominated its December Asia Contract Price which was up US$65 a ton from the November. Isomer mixed xylene prices rose on buying for January while paraxylene-mixed xylene spread retreated from 4-month high.

Nylon yarn becomes costly amid high input cost

In China, FDY70D/24F SD prices surged US cents 12 a kg in the last week of November while FDY40D rose US cents 12 a kg on the week. DTY 70D/24F prices jumped US cents 9 a kg while 30D/10F were up US cents 9-16 a kg on the week.

Monofilament 30D prices rose US cents 6 a kg, while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices were up US cents 8 a kg on the week.

Nylon filament yarn makers hiked offers amid high cost pressure on the back of surging nylon chips. In nylon-6 FDY and POY markets sentiment was boosted amid firm raw materials and moderate demand from warp-knitting mills.

Caprolactum prices surge amid tight availability in Asian markets

Asian caprolactum prices were up US$10 a ton SE and FE in the last week of November. In China, spot offers for liquid goods surged US$100 a ton while solid good offers were stable on the week.

Caprolactum prices remained steady to firm amid tight availability in Asian markets. Producers hiked offers for liquid goods in East China. Mainstream values for East European goods were also firm.
