Textile units to register online and provide production data

The Government has made another move post demonetization.They have made it mandatory for all textile units across the value chain, except handloom, khadi and jute, will have to register online and provide data on production.

While the registration will be one-time, production details should be shared by the units every month. Units can do this online from their premises or make use of the infrastructure available at the Regional Offices of the Textile Commissioner or powerloom service centres.

Textiles have long been an integral part of Southeast Asian cultures since they are the physical manifestation of each society’s beliefs, traditions, aesthetics, and artistic ability. KPWI, a community dedicated to preserving Indonesian traditional fabrics, to promote ikat textile from Ende East Nusa Tenggara initiated an exhibition at the Textile Museum in South Jakarta on Wednesday.

Polyester yarn price jumps amid moderate enquiries

In Shengze, offers for 32s and 45s polyester yarn were up in the last week of November. In Qiangqing, offers for 32s weaving yarn were flat on the week. In US$ term, they were up US cents 2-3 a kg on the week, due to strong Yuan.

Polyester yarns offers in Shengze market picked up amid moderate enquiries and selling sentiment and did not see notable improvement. There was huge uncertainty about the sentiment in the future, thus players held heavy wait-and-see stance. They did not have too much interest to stock up huge raw materials too.

PTA price inches up in China

Asian PTA prices inched up US$4 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia in the last week of November. Purified terephthalic acid prices inched up in China on the week while they were stable in other Asian markets.

In India, domestic polymer and polyester demand was been hit since the government's demonetization policy sparked a drop in retail goods sales, impacting converters and the traders who supply them.

Export incentive to make Nepali garment more competitive

The Nepali domestic apparel manufacturers have demanded the government to provide 10 percent export incentive on total export value through the supplementary budget, which according to them, is a must to bring down their cost of production and to boost exports of Nepali apparels. As Nepali garments are up to 18 percent more expensive in the international market as compared to garments from other countries due to higher cost of production.

Globalisation and technology revolution are posing increasingly greater challenges for Vietnam’s economy, as the country’s labour force will grow from 55.5 million on 2016 to 62 million in 2025, said Deputy Minister of MoLISA Đào Hồng Lan. ASF price rolls over in Asian markets

In China, ASF prices rolled over in the last week of November. Acrylic staple fibre prices generally rolled over as market transaction remained stable. Currently, inventory level was low and supply in China may tighten somewhat given the maintenance plan of Shanghai Petrochemical next week. Downstream demand was still sound, so ASF market was still active.

Although run rate was seen at a high level, market fundamentals were still balanced with the help of favorable demand. Upstream ACN values were slightly firm.

Acrylonitrile price falls in Asia despite high upstream cost

Asian ACN prices fell US$10-11 a ton CFR Far East Asia in the last week of November while Southeast Asia moved down US$10 a ton.

Acrylonitrile prices in Asian markets fell on the week on sluggish demand despite higher upstream propylene costs. Demand in Southeast Asia was mute. In China, spot prices retraced up later that week, after majors announced monthly settlements at high level to prevent further price drop.

In US, spot acrylonitrile was steady week on week as demand was stable but supply remained tight with expectations of tightness may ease in near future.
