With improved business activity, dealers said that cotton prices remain firm on the cotton market on Friday. The official spot rate remain unchanged at Rs 6250. According to some experts, the revival of buying interest seen in the market as spinners rushed to replenish their stocks. In Sindh, seed cotton prices were at Rs 2600-3250, while the Punjab, phutti rates were at Rs 2800 and Rs 3500, as per 40 kg.

The Shanghai based firm Labon, specializing in technical fiber and textile manufacturer has invested $3.1 million to set up its first U.S. facility in Orangeburg County which is expected to begin operations in January, according to the South Carolina Department of Commerce.

The decision to set up 15,700-square-foot facility in the Orangeburg county was easy for them due to skilled workforce and friendly business climate. They will be hiring in 23 new jobs immediately.

With the recent growth in the Chinese garment industry there is a demand for yarn due to which Vietnam’s cotton industry likely to see uptick. Vietnam’s cotton imports to increase in the first few months of 2016-17. It is estimated that imports will experience an increase of 18 percent.

The Chinese garment industry has thrived on the demand from the US and Europe for cheaply manufactured clothes. In China this industry focuses on produces finished textile goods, which explains the demand for the yarn from Vietnam.

In Shengze, offers for 32s polyester yarn were up US cents 11 a kg in the second week of December. In Qiangqing, 32s weaving yarn was up US cents 7 a kg on the week.

In China, spun polyester yarn offers moved up in line with rising PSF values despite lusterless demand. Producers were considering taking a break in advance in view of fast price rises of raw materials which is forcing yarn makers to follow up amid lack of orders. Thus, producers faced margin loss and stopping operation in advance with the Spring Festival drawing near.

Asian PTA prices gained US$13 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia in the second week of December. In China, offers for nearby-month goods surged US$10 a ton on the week.

Yisheng Petrochemical raised its selling price by US$12 a ton while Hengli Petrochemical offers were up US$10 a ton.

The cotton market recovering with renewed buying interest from spinners on Wednesday. Floor brokers said that spinners rushed back to meet their short-term requirement, but their buying remained restricted to small-lot transactions ahead of bank closing and New Year eve.

Due to steady flow of buying orders at the lower level lint prices regained recent losses and finished Rs50 higher on ready trading.
