The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation's (MIDC) regional office proposes textile park for which it has acquired 113 hectare land parcel. The proposed park is expected to attract investment and provide job opportunities to the youths.

A proposal for infrastructural development has been sent to the head office for approval. On receiving approval, the MIDC will float tenders for developing infrastructure.

The first ever Apparel and Garment Making Centre was inaugurated in Meghalaya by the Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani. The centre covering an area of 45,000 sq feet was set up under North East Region Textiles Promotion Scheme (NERTPS) at an approximate cost of Rs 14.26 crore and was completed within a record time since its construction began in 2015.

Viscose yarn prices steady in Asia

In China, offers for ring‐spun 30s weaving yarn in Xiaoshan rose were steady in the third week of January, while compact siro‐spun 40s yarn in Jiangsu was offered stable on the week.

In China, spun viscose yarn makers generally stopped production to take holidays, leading to thin transactions in the market. A few large mills were likely to suspend business from early next week. However, prices may bounce north after the Spring Festival.

Blended yarn price inches up in India

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices were flat in the third week of January while 45s PC combed yarn prices were stable on the week, however, both were up US cents 3-4 a kg due to currency.

In China, blended yarn markets were quiet as spinners were shutting for the Lunar New Year holidays. However, yarn import prices continued rising with the Yuan falling.
