Trybus Group to set up garment production center in Ethiopia

Trybus Group a Texas-based menswear clothing company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ethiopian Investment Commission to set up a manufacturing center in Komblocha Industrial Zone, expanding its supply chain footprint in Ethiopia.

The MoU was signed by Fisum Arega, commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission, and Lixun Wang, Trybus Group VP and director general. Trybus Group USA will occupy an 11,000 square-meter (100,000 square-foot) building in the Industrial Zone.

Egypt plans to scale its cotton cultivation back. Nabil al-Santaricy, head of the Alexandria Cotton Exporters Association, referring to long-staple American cotton, Egypt's primary competitor said that the area under cultivation is growing and exports are also going to grow and they can now sell at a price that’s less than California Prima.

This year the area planted rose to about 220,000 acres and is expected to hit up to 500,000 acres in the next two to three years, according to cotton traders.

The New Nigerian Development Company and Sur International Textile, a Turkish company with an investment of 15 million dollars have entered into a partnership aimed at revitalizing, the collapsed Kaduna Textile Limited (KTL).

SUR will provide 35 percent of the total funds while the balance would be shared between the Federal Government and 19 Northern states.
The Turkish business delegation had earlier inspected the site of the firm and the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, both at the Kakuri Industrial Layout in Kaduna.
