Pak-Thailand to hold discussions this month to reach final decision on FTA

Pakistan and Thailand to reach a final decision on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will be holding its eighth round of talks which will be held from August 21 to 23. During the 8th round, talks would be held on the text of agreement, tariff reduction modalities, request lists from both sides and offer lists.

Both sides had exchanged the offer lists of items for free trade, including automobile and textile sectors for removing the reservations of the sectors, a senior official of the Ministry of Commerce said.

Vietnamese domestic garment and textile companies have, for the foremost half, ignored on the much-touted edges of trade agreements (FTAs) that was signed by the country, experts aforesaid at seminar yesterday.

Vietnam has signed twelve trade agreements, of that ten FTAs have inherit force: VN-ASEAN, ASEAN-India, ASEAN-Australia-New Sjaelland, ASEAN-South Korea, ASEAN-China, ASEAN-Japan, Vietnam-Chile, Vietnam-Japan, Vietnam-South Korea and Vietnam- Eurasian Economic Union, said Nguyễn Ngọc Hòa, deputy director of the HCM town Department of trade and Trade.

Nylon chain on uptrend in Asia amid tight supply, healthy demand

Caprolactum prices in Asia were stable to up in June as supply constraint was easing somewhat. Demand remained modest as run rates at polymerization units and yarn makers were at 75%, with no change in inventory levels. In Europe, June price talks continued into last days of the month, with decreases of up to Euro 40 a ton targeted depending on starting point. Asian caprolactam spot prices were up 0.2% from last month. Sinopec nominated July contract at a hike of US$35 a ton from June settlement while Fibrant raised July nomination by US$30 a ton for liquid goods.

Viscose yarn price remains firm in Asia

Viscose spun yarn prices in June were stable to firm in China and market fundamentals showed signs of improvement. In Xiaoshan, 30s spun viscose price rolled over on the month.

In India, viscose yarn prices inched up on support for firmer VSF cost and export realisation. In India, 30s viscose prices were up US cent 1 in Indore market.

In Pakistan, rise in seasonal demand was reported for viscose yarns in Faisalabad market with prices rolling over on the month. In Pakistan, 35s viscose yarn were pegged stable in Karachi.

Polyester prices stable to up in Asian markets

Polyester spun yarn market in China was slightly higher in June on the back of firm PSF cost amid moderate transactions. In Shengze, offers for 32s polyester yarn were up US cents 3 a kg from May.

In India, polyester yarn prices remained unchanged after being lifted in early June following hike in PSF prices. In India, 30 polyester knit yarns rolled over in Ludhiana market.

In Pakistan, polyester spinners were confronted by lack of export orders, in line with the rapid decline of overall exports. In Pakistan, 30s spun polyester was unchanged on the month.

Active trading continues at cotton market

Karachi Cotton Exchange on Tuesday continued to witness active trading, while upcountry expenses increased Rs10 a maund. According to an analyst, upcountry expenses increased after a period of around two years, as transport charges also escalated

Spot rate stood unchanged at Rs6,350/maund (37.324 kilogrammes) and Rs6,802/40-kg. However, ex-Karachi rates rose to Rs6,495/maund and Rs6,960/40-kg after addition of Rs145 and Rs155 as upcountry expenses, respectively.

Rise in global yarn production by 30pc in first quarter of 2017

Rise in global yarn production seen by nearly 30 percent during the first quarter of 2017 while on a year-on-year basis it increased by 1.9 percent. The increase in global yarn output was mainly due to 31.8 percent increase in Asia.

In North and South America yarn production increased by 13 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively. Europe could not maintain its upward trend, instead showing a slight decline of 1.2 percent quarter-on-quarter in yarn production, according to the latest figures from the ITMF.
