GTex Int'l B2B Textile Machinery Brand Expo, the only exhibition of Pakistan Textile Sector in which all major players of industry participate with their leading international brands was opened on Friday, 11th August 2017to 13th August 2017, Sunday with expected business deals worth around $17.2 Million.

The event was organized by Global Enterprise at Lahore Expo Centre which covers Textile, Garment, Digital Printing, Embroidery, Leather Machinery, Chemical & Dyes, Energy and Apparel.

The seminar sponsored by the Center for Foreign Economic Cooperation (CCEE) of the Ministry of Agriculture of China where leaders from China and Cuba’s silk industry gathered in Havana on Friday to discuss ways to expand silk production in the Caribbean country and offered guidance on improving the production and industrialization of silk in Cuba. It also plans to explore a new area of bilateral growth.

The day included conferences, visits to production sites and workshops where participants learned new techniques in silk development.

Trading activity at lint market remains selective on grade issue while some buyers made deals on slightly high price on shrinking better grades of lint that also kept general prices in green zone. Also some deals were made for second grade stuff on premium price.

Some of the leading buyers in Sindh and Punjab stations during trading session made forward deals on slightly higher price at around Rs6,725 per maund for consolidating inventories, floor brokers said.

At the Karachi Cotton Exchange on Tuesday, trading remain active while spot rates fell Rs50/maund to Rs6,250/maund (37.324kg) and Rs6,698/40kg. Ex-Karachi rates also dropped to Rs6,395/maund and Rs6,853/40kg after an addition of Rs145 and Rs155 as upcountry expenses, respectively.

KCE recorded 11 transactions of around 15,000 bales at a price of Rs6,225 to Rs6,400/maund. Transactions were recorded from Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Kotri, Shahdadpur, Tando Adam, Qaboola, Burewala, Sahiwal, Khanewal and Chichawatni.

Scientists of Gujarat-based Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI) have helped textile processing units of Tirupur, India’s textile valley set up the State’s first common effluent treatment plant (CETP) in Chinnakarai making Tirupur textile dyeing units environmentally sustainable and achieve zero liquid discharge.

CETP will separate sodium chloride and sodium sulphate from solid residue. Over the years, the solid residue from the textile units has piled up to the extent of 6,000 tons and is going to landfills posing a major environmental hazard.

A global chemical producer, Indorama Ventures Public Co Ltd. (IVL), has entered negotiations to acquire DuraFiber Technologies México Operations, S. A. DE C. V. (DFT), a Mexican producer of durable technical textiles for industrial, tire reinforcement, and specialty applications globally.

Aloke Lohia, Indorama Ventures group CEO, said that the acquisition of DuraFiber is strongly aligned with their strategy of pursuing accretive growth opportunities in the high value-added automotive segment.
