Indian garment exporters maintains per unit realization to the US market

Indian garment exporters not only maintained its per unit realization to the US market but also expanding its market share compared to other large garment exporting countries including China, Bangladesh and Vietnam who have been recording decline in their per unit realization to the US since the past three years.

According to the data from the Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA), USA, the average realization per square metre equivalent of apparels exported by India to the US has been in the range of $3.4-3.6 since 2014.

Cotton crop estimated at comfortable position during the 2017-18 season

The Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) is estimating the cotton crop at 370 to 380-lakh bales of 170 kg each at a very comfortable position during the 2017-18 cotton season.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture has also confirmed that the area under cotton in 2017-18 season has jumped to 119.88-lakh hectares from 101.72-lakh hectares in the earlier season. The crop has continued to draw significant rainfall in areas that were deficient, and this in turn could improve the crop position.

India expected to remain largest cotton producer in 2017-18

In 2017/18, world cotton production is projected to increase by 8% to 24.9 million tons due entirely to an 8% expansion in world cotton area to 31.7 million hectares, which is below the 20-year average of 32.7 million hectares. The world average yield is forecast at 785 kg/ha. India is expected to remain the world’s largest cotton producer in 2017/18 with output increasing by 6% to 6.1 million tons. After falling by 6% in 2016/17, China’s production is projected to rebound by 7% to 5.2 million tons.

Oklahoma is increasingly becoming a national player in cotton production and is projected to climb into fourth place in acres harvested for 2017, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Mississippi is third in forecast acreage and is expected to harvest 95,000 more acres than Oklahoma, down from 140,000 more acres the year before, according to the USDA, but Oklahoma is narrowing the gap, said Harvey Schroeder, executive director of the Oklahoma Cotton Council, which is based in Frederick in southwest Oklahoma.

Balinese textiles have been highly praised in several countries, because the products are produced manually instead of machines. Some countries, such as United States of America, Singapore, and Australia, have served as three largest markets for the Balinese textile products, stated Adi Nugroho, the Bali BPS chairman.

According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the US market has absorbed about 23.11 percent of non-knit textile products, worth US$5.240 million, exported by Bali province in July.

Nylon yarn price edges down in Asia

In China, nylon FDY70D/24F SD and FDY40D prices were both unchanged in the fourth week of August. Nylon DTY prices were down US cent 4 a kg while 30D/10F was stable.

Monofilament 30D prices fell US cents 15 a kg while nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices were down US cents 7 a kg on the week.

Caprolactum price continue to decline in Asia

In China, spot liquid good offers fell US$129 a ton in the fourth week of August while solid goods were similarly down US$144 a ton on the week.
Sinopec settled August contract at a decrease of US$120 a ton from nomination. European goods were stable at US$1,700‐1,720 a ton.

Caprolactum prices were again adjusted down in Asian markets amid cautious buying interest and long supplies. CPL market weakened as trading was also insipid.
