Zimbabwe govt. supports about 90 percent of all cotton grown in the country

Government currently supports about 90 percent of all cotton grown in the country through the Presidential Inputs Support Scheme. The incentive is on foreign currency generated after trade and is paid in bond notes. Cotton output is expected to increase significantly this season after the number of registered farmers increased to around 400 000 from 155 000 farmers in the 2016-17 summer season.

The mills learnt more about the e-auction system of the CCI for sale of cotton that it obtains.Around 200 mills in the State are registered with the CCI and 30 to 35 buy cotton regularly through e-auction.

The present cotton scenario and cotton sales by the CCI this season was discussed by the CCI officials and textile mills. Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has purchased 11 lakh bales of cotton so far this cotton season (October to September) and sold four lakh bales.

MCPI to set-up polyester project at Bhadrak textile park

The Materials Chemicals Performance Intermediaries (MCPI) Private Limited has evinced interest in setting up a polyester continuous polymerisation and allied yarn project at the textile park in Bhadrak district. The company has submitted an investment proposal of `1,000 crore to the State Government through the online portal Government of Odisha Single Window for Investor Facilitation and Tracking (GO-SWIFT) seeking an early approval of the project.

Pakistan’s textile exports have been tapering off for the last four years, but an incentive package valuing Rs 180 billion, comprising rebates and tax concessions announced in January last year, bucked up exporters to contend for increase their share in the markets around the world.The exports should be regularly subjected to audit from third party to ascertain the use of imported inputs after one year. The bureaucracy should remain out of this process. All documented imported inputs used by this sector should be allowed at zero duty and consumption verified through exports.
