Zalando Outlets expand its pre-owned clothing offering

German fashion e-tailer Zalando claims that in order to offer pre-owned fashion a second chance at life, its outlet outlets would broaden their selection to include it.

The pre-owned merchandise is being added to the assortment at Berlin-based Zalando’s retail locations. Customers may now find like-new used clothes at local shops in addition to online.

The newest Zalando Outlet in Berlin’s Tauentzienstrasse will open its doors to the new category in March after being gradually introduced. Customers can now access the extended selection at this location. Customers will have the chance to browse through pre-owned items at 12 Zalando Outlets located around Germany beginning in October.

The pre-owned inventory, according to the online retailer, is always changing and is based on the size of each Zalando Outlet. The pre-owned, like-new apparel is identified with a distinct label and is kept in specific sales locations. The same return policies that apply to all other products in the outlet shop also apply to these items.

According to Dorothee Schönfeld, general director of Zalando Outlets, fashion enthusiasts may now find genuine vintage gems there. Giving clothing a second chance is a crucial step toward a cyclical cycle of fashion. All of our sources allow you participate in this.

Zalando clients are particularly open to the second-hand fashion offer in in-store retail, according to a pilot experiment conducted in November and December 2021 at the Zalando Outlets in Hanover, Cologne, and Berlin.

The apparel, accessories, shoes, and home goods that were formerly sold online through the Zalando Store or the Zalando Lounge shopping club are now sold in the Zalando Outlets. In this approach, products that, for example, are now only offered in a few sizes and are therefore challenging to provide online, are given a second shot to become a customer favorite. Outlet buyers may now give apparel new life by purchasing pre-owned items.
