Woolfest to showcase the best in wool crafts this year

Woolfest, a unique event to display the best in wool crafts and offers a wealth of advice for any natural fibre enthusiast. Visitors have a chance to find out more about a new craft or learn a new skill in one of the many demonstrations taking place. This year they have the opportunity to discover more about wet felting, weaving and extreme textiles.

The event is also offering the chance to for festival goers to meet the makers and designers as well as the opportunity to learn more about British wool.

This year, Woolfest had introduced a new part of the festival which will celebrate the native Herdwick sheep.

Each day at 4pm expect readings, images and music that has been specially created for the festival with Ann Lingard, Ally McGurk and Kathleen Robertson providing an informative yet entertaining take on the iconic breed.

The wool fans can purchase a two day ticket and take part in many of the creative projects that will be happening throughout the festival.

In 2013, the event had attracted more than 6000 visitors and picked up a number of awards from industry publications including being voted as ‘favourite event’ by Knit Now magazine.

Woolfest will be held at Mitchell’s Lakeland Livestock Centre on Friday June 28 and Saturday June 29 in Cockermouth. Entrance costs £8 per day including free programme with a 2 day ticket available at £14. Tickets are only available on the door.
