Wellness options included in denim innovations by ISKO

Denim manufacturer ISKO has unveiled a wellness collection that features Aloe Vera, Q10 and coffee microcapsules offering benefits for the skin.

The Turkish group is known for innovation in denim and holds 20 patents, with 100 more pending and 100 trademarks.

Its latest collection features 98 new fabrics, which includes the Mantra wellness collection as well as a finish called Vulcano that aids the laser process and a water-repelling option called UltraDry.

Textile engineer Fatma Korkmaz told sportstextiles.com: “We are at the beginning of the wellness journey. It takes time – you have to prove it works. We don’t have this capability in our lab but we do have proven results from our suppliers.”

ISKO is part of Sanko Textiles, which owns performance fabrics brand Arquas, and Ms Korkmaz said there is a crossover in terms of innovation. Its Turkish R&D centre is home to 90 researchers who work across denim and sportswear.

“We analyse the sportswear fabrics in our R&D centre and then try to replicate them in denim,” she said. “But getting the same effect is often difficult because it’s woven. There are already lots of collaborations between denim brands and sportswear brands, and many sports and outdoorwear brands include denim in their collections.”
