Performance textile manufacturer, Ventile, has reported record sales for 2021, owing to a rise in consumer interest in environmentally friendly apparel and fabrics.
Total Ventile brand sales for the calendar year January to December 2021 climbed by 75% over the same period in 2020, according to the company.
Ventile states that demand for its sustainably derived fabric, which includes Ventile Organic and Ventile Recycled, had a record year, with sales of its eco range up 230 percent year over year.
Its eco line now accounts for 51% of overall sales, and five of the company's top-selling brands are from this line. Ventile L24 Organic, a 100 percent cotton fabric created from sustainably farmed organic global organic textile standard (GOTS) certified cotton, was one of the brand's most popular textiles, accounting for 22 percent of all meters sold, while Ventile L19 Organic had its greatest year since its inception.
Consumers' desire to purchase more sustainably, as well as designers' enthusiasm in producing socially conscious products, have been major reasons for the brand's growth in 2021, according to Ventile, who has helped the company launch five new fabric varieties in the last 12 months.
Daniel Odermatt, Ventile marketing manager, said in a statement that last year proved to be a key year for the success of Ventile. Not only can we declare record sales for Ventile as a whole, but they're also thrilled to report that sales of their Eco range had a bumper year.
Odermatt added that as a brand founded on its sustainable credentials and true advocates of the slow fashion movement, they are beyond thrilled to see that consumers, as well as brands around the world, are recognizing the importance of this practice in the textile industry.
Ventile fabric was first developed in 1943 for use by the Royal Air Force (RAF) during WWII. Outdoor enthusiasts and sustainable fashion advocates alike wear the brand, which now provides a choice of 100% cotton and hybrid fiber textile fabrics.
