Uniqlo launches ‘Buy With Purpose’ feature to give back

Japanese apparel brand, Uniqlo, has added a new feature to its e-commerce site that will reward customers with a donation to a charity made on their behalf by the company.

Uniqlo’s BlueCycle Jeans, for example, will be eligible for the Buy with Purpose feature, which will be available on the retailer’s app and website.

It’s part of Uniqlo’s LifeWear concept, which aims to ensure that clothing lasts a long time while also being good for society.

Customers will receive information that their purchase has earned a two-dollar donation credit when they purchase an item that is part of the program. They can then donate to one of three nonprofit organizations: UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), Charity: Water, or Street Soccer USA.

Uniqlo US CEO, Daisuke Tsukagoshi, said that Uniqlo has always worked for constant development, in their products, their services, and their contributions to society. Their consumers remain at the center of all they do as they continue to grow. This program allows them to interact with them in a joint endeavor to help organizations that are improving people’s lives around the world, by linking sustainably-conscious product choices to a larger purpose.
