Twin Dragon Marketing Inc., a multinational textile manufacturer specializing in denim textiles, innovative denim washing and pioneering fashion fabric trends headquartered in the current global denim capital, Los Angeles, California has announced it will integrate Unifi’s Sorbtek and Repreve fibre into its new denim collections in Asia and Mexico.
The company said that it is manufacturing Sorbtek using wicking fabric, which draws moisture away from the body, while integrating it with the Repreve fibre, which is made from recycled plastic bottles uses less energy and produces fewer greenhouse gases than virgin fibres.
Twin Dragon aims to contribute to reducing global warming with Sorbtek’s environmentally friendly manufacturing process. The company claims to process keeps yarn cool, against sweat and grass allowing less washing, which saves water.
Dominic Poon, CEO of Twin Dragon, said that wicking performance capabilities in the athletic wear market have experienced a 70 to 80 percent growth over the past decade. Yet, the denim industry has not caught up or implemented the same capabilities in the jeans category.
Some denim in the collection will be made with pre-reduced indigo, the company said
According to Jay Hertwig, vice president of global brand sales, Unifi, they are proud to work with Twin Dragon to develop a product that features the performance attributes demanded by today’s consumers, in addition to being environmentally responsible.
Twin Dragonn has developed denim using Sorbtek and Repreve fibres, that aims to manage moisture in a greener way.
Twin Dragon has an annual global production capacity for over 80 million square yards in Mexico, China, and Taiwan, as well as Pakistan and Africa.
