Trybus Group to set up garment production center in Ethiopia

Trybus Group a Texas-based menswear clothing company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ethiopian Investment Commission to set up a manufacturing center in Komblocha Industrial Zone, expanding its supply chain footprint in Ethiopia.

The MoU was signed by Fisum Arega, commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission, and Lixun Wang, Trybus Group VP and director general. Trybus Group USA will occupy an 11,000 square-meter (100,000 square-foot) building in the Industrial Zone.

Trybus Group will make a substantial financial investment to equip the manufacturing facility with state of the art garment technology. Trybus will also bring its technical and tailoring expertise by providing staffing and staff training in the facility. Trybus will control the new manufacturing facility and manufacturing process to ensure a high quality garment.

It will create employment for more than 1,000 Ethiopians during the first phase of operation. The company aims to hire more than 3,000 workers when its operations are in full swing. With their MoU with the Ethiopian Investment Commission and the startup of this new facility, they are committed to enhancing the lives of the local community by creating opportunities for the Ethiopians to better themselves, added Trybus.

Ethiopian authorities also plan to carry out expansion projects on up to 1,000 hectares of land in the future. Industrial Parks Development Corporation of Ethiopia chairman Dr. Arkebe Oqubay indicated that the park’s second phase will include other zones, such as Desie town. The region is also receiving more industrial hubs as well. Bahir Dar industrial park is set to be completed in April 2018, while Arerti and Debre Berhan industrial parks are set to be finished by June next year.
