Timberland expands its Take Back Program in UK

UK-based Timberland, has announced numerous new efforts to deepen its commitment to sustainability and a greener future in honor of Earth Day 2022.

The Timberloop product Take Back program, which began in the United States earlier this year, will now be available in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy.

Consumers are encouraged to return their worn Timberland footwear, clothes, or accessories to a Timberland store or via a pre-paid, mail-back option. Disassembled, recycled, or upcycled objects are either repaired and refurbished for resale, or they are disassembled, recycled, or upcycled into new products.

The Timberloop website was also launched to assist the resale component of the initiative, making these recycled and refurbished products available in the United States. Later this year, the website will be launched in other markets.

Timberland has also announced the release of the Timberloop™ Trekker City Hiker, the brand’s first footwear intended for full circularity, which will be available in S22. The shoe has a removable inner bootie made of 100%t recycled plastic ReBotl fabric that can be removed and dismantled for recycling at the Timberloop take-back facility.

Chris McGrath, VP of Global Footwear Design at Timberland, said that they always have and always will develop high-quality, durable goods that stand the test of time. They’ve also incorporated an eco-innovation focus, which is a natural development in how they approach product creation. Timberland has been employing recycled materials in its footwear for years, but the new Timberloop Trekker design takes us a step further.

Susie Mulder, global brand president for Timberland, said that they’ve worked hard to ensure that every touchpoint – from product take-back boxes in our retail shops to the new Timberloop resale website – makes it easy for consumers to participate in the Timberloop program.
