The recycling partnership joined by Alpek Polyester

Alpek Polyester, an integrated business unit of Alpek, S.A.B. de C.V. and Charlotte, North Carolina-based DAK Americas LLC, has announced that it has joined The Recycling Partnership, Falls Church, Virginia, as an active member in support of the organization’s goals of increasing residential recycling rates and the need for increased availability of recycled materials to enable the creation of circular business models. Alpek aims to support efforts to improve the availability of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) to meet growing customer needs for higher rPET content in end-use products, according to a news release from The Recycling Partnership.

Alpek Polyester is a large recycler of PET bottles in the U.S. and a large producer of PET as well.

“We are happy to join The Recycling Partnership to promote and increase PET recycling rates,” says Jon McNaull, vice president of PET at Alpek Polyester. “PET is a versatile and outstanding packaging material that is fully recyclable and brings great value to its many end-uses.”

Keefe Harrison, CEO of The Recycling Partnership, says she’s excited to have Alpek Polyester join the group and to support its Circular Economy Accelerator initiatives. The Recycling Partnership launched the Circular Economy Accelerator in April as an independent initiative to help drive policy solutions for recycling in the U.S.

“The addition of a PET producer and recycler like Alpek Polyester will not only help our efforts to strengthen and expand our mission, but also support our organization’s goal of creating a healthier U.S. recycling system,” Harrison adds.

The Recycling Partnership is a national nonprofit organization that leverages corporate partner funding to transform recycling in states, cities and communities across the U.S. To date, it has served more than 1,000 communities by providing them with tools, data, resources and technical support.
