Thai silk fair under the Royal Peacock Brand coming up in August

The 10th Annual Weaving fair under the Royal Peacock Brand for the Legend of Thai Silk 2015 to be held in August, to motivate the younger generation to take part in the conservation of silk which is a cultural heritage of Thailand. The event is organized by the Department of Sericulture, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

This year the annual event comes under the theme “Native Silks of Thailand”. It aims to showcase and promote high-quality Thai silk and serticulture-related products.

Permanent Secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives Chavalit Chookajorn said that the event is held in honor of Their Majesties the King and Queen, to commemorate their great contributions to the silk preservation and development. HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will represent Her Majesty the Queen in officially opening the event.

The event will be highlighted by an exhibition to display how Their Majesties have pushed forward sericulture until it becomes a highly-earning occupation for local residents across Thailand.

The five-day fair will provide the visitors a chance to admire the ten outstanding patterns of Thai silk textiles and demonstrations on silk weaving. Putting on display are also winning products from the national contest under the Royal Peacock brand, new designs of silk couture and silk clothes designed by the new generation.

The event will be held from 7-11 August 2015 at Hall 8, IMPACT Exhibition Center, Muangthong Thani, Nonthaburi.
