Karl Mayer has expanded its RDJ machine range with the new RDJ 6/2 in E 32 gauge. The machine is designed to give manufacturers greater flexibility when producing spacer fabrics for sports and casual footwear, while also supporting detailed designs and consistent fabric quality. Karl Mayer’s technology allows different functional zones to be integrated into one or both sides of the fabric, including breathable mesh areas that can vary in size and position.
The fine E 32 gauge of the RDJ 6/2 allows manufacturers to produce spacer fabrics with a soft feel, closely knitted structures and smooth surfaces. The smaller loop heads also help create sharper outlines and more clearly defined patterns, giving the finished fabric a clean and refined appearance.
The machine is equipped with two wirelessly controlled Jacquard guide bars, allowing manufacturers to create more detailed patterns and additional design effects. It can also produce two-colour constructions as well as equal-lap and counter-lap patterns.
Counter-lap patterning can be used to create breathable areas with almost round openings and surfaces with greater structural variation. The machine can produce both lightweight, thin spacer fabrics and more prominent designs made with thicker materials.
