In a major step towards reviving Telangana’s handloom traditions and encouraging environmentally responsible fashion, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao formally launched Singidi Collective on Friday. The new sustainable fashion brand is focused on preserving traditional craftsmanship and promoting the use of natural dyes. It also focuses on organic cotton and handloom textiles.
At the launch event, KT Rama Rao praised the initiative and highlighted Telangana’s long history of textile innovation, referring to crafts such as Ikkat and Gollabama. He said that Singidi Collective represents a new phase in this legacy, where age-old knowledge of natural dyeing is combined with modern design.
The brand name Singidi comes from the Telangana word for “rainbow” and reflects its wide range of colours derived entirely from plants, roots, and flowers. By avoiding harmful synthetic chemicals, the brand places strong emphasis on environmental care. Singidi Collective aims to balance cultural preservation with ecological responsibility, ensuring that each garment reflects its connection to nature and origin.
Vishwa Saradhi, the founder of Singidi Collective, said that the brand was launched with the aim of rethinking modern fashion choices and returning to practices that respect both the environment and artisans. He explained that the collections are based on detailed research into forgotten dye techniques and traditional weaving styles.
The collection features modern, gender-neutral designs made from hand-spun and hand-woven fabrics. It is aimed at consumers who value openness, authenticity, and meaningful stories behind the products they choose to wear.
