Lidl has introduced a carbon running shoe under its private label Crivit, drawing attention for its relatively low price compared to similar products in the market. The new shoe, called CarbonLite 1.0, includes a carbon plate that helps improve energy return by enhancing power transfer during running. It also features a knitted upper for comfort and breathability. Several men’s sizes between 41 and 46 have already sold out.
The shoe is priced to attract beginners, while its technology may also be more suitable for experienced runners. Several running specialists, including Sebastian Bär, have also raised concerns about this issue.
Lidl has been working on repositioning and expanding the Crivit brand internationally since the middle of last year. As part of this effort, the company announced in February that former tennis star Stefanie Graf would join the brand as its new ambassador.
